Our Story - How we started

Mr. Kambala Subramanyam was born in an Indian Railways employed family in South India. Like other boys in his society Kambala was sent to school. All his educational requirements, social life and financial well being was taken care of by his parents. Kambala's father worked for Indian railways in the engineering department and his mother worked with buffalo owners to assist them with forming sustainable buffalo milk producing businesses.

Kambala Subramanyam, the eldest son in the family grew up happy and well looked after with his younger brother and younger sister. He remembers clearly all the happy times they shared together. His parents' dream and desire was that he became an engineer for Indian railways like his father.

Eager to please his parents he successfully completed his education. It was at school and college that he observed some unequal things amongst the some students who came from different casts and families of India.

While studying mechanical engineering at university, Kamabala was faced with the tragic loss of his co student and close friend who committed suicide because of the lack of money to pay his university fee. It affected Kambala strongly that his friend never confided in him about his difficulties and it was Kambala who discovered the note from his friend. This incident completely changed the direction of Kambala's life as he soon stopped his education. He began to visit outlying villages where he saw great poverty and suffering and also learned about the noble hearts of the people and listened to their courageous life stories. It was then that he felt moved to dedicate his life to serve such poor communities and orphans. His parents, disappointed with Kambala for leaving university, tried to persuade him to continue and he eventually had toleave his parents.

After 2 years research he became a school teacher for poor and orphan children in Bapulapadu Mandal villages. He adopted 3 villages at first. He dedicated his life as a full time worker to serve them. Slowly his parents began to see his dedication to this new path and began to support to him and his service. In the year of 1997 he started the Mercy Economic and Education Development Society with some like minded friends and his family support in all matters financial and moral. Through God's Grace Kambala and MEEDS are able to serve the nation of India to bring well being and hope into the lives of so many.
